With all the press on the Emerald ash borer, people automatically dismiss any Ash tree as a tree that is susceptible. I would like to clarify a common misconception about the Showy mountain ash tree. Even though the word ash is in it’s name, it is not really in the Ash family. Ash trees are in the Fraxinus family, while the Showy mountain ash are in the Sorbus family.
